Proud to be ‘Green’

Kilombero Rice Challenge

Here at NTU Sport our Green Impacts team have been on a drive to help fuel those post-workout carbohydrate needs, whilst helping to raise money to provide a child from Malawi through education.

We are constantly emailing trying to raise support and awareness of different causes we are supporting, and this is an example of one of them:

The response we got was overwhelming positive and Amy managed to raise £75 for the Kilombero Rice Challenge. This will go towards making a lasting difference in a child’s life, and you can read more here if you want to look into this great cause yourself.

Sport goes green

You may have seen our Green Impact awards proudly displayed at Lee Westwood Sport Centre, but may not know what goes into making our department one of the ‘greenest’ in the university each year.

We have a small team of dedicated ‘planet protectors’ that are constantly looking for ways for us to reduce our carbon footprint, so here is some insight into what we’ve been doing so far this year.

We set ourselves new year’s resolutions, which are still going down well four months later, as well as starting our own departmental ‘Waste Not Want Not’ programme (NTU’s personal take on Gumtree).

Tips and reminders

We also send occasional green reminders to our colleagues throughout the year such as the example below, plus regular tips to try to reduce our office’s daily impact on the planet.

These are just a few snippets of what our green impact team does all year round to make NTU Sport ‘proud to be green’.

And if you want to take any of these tips forward into your daily life, every little helps!
