#TrentThisGirlCan – This Girl Can play NTU Hockey!

As part of the This Girl Can nation-wide campaign, designed to engage more women and girls in sport, our women’s hockey team tell us what’s to love about playing at Nottingham Trent University…

Chloe Prentice – Women’s Hockey President, 4th XI Player

Women’s hockey is one of the largest societies at NTU, with five BUCS teams, an intramural team and two weekend teams which compete in local leagues.

With hockey being a team sport, the benefits it provides are extensive. Hockey can be seen as a second family, it improves our fitness as well as mental health and provides us with many laughs along the way.

We play matches on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s and often the games bring lots of support from the rest of the club.

Bella Fisken – 1st XI Captain, Scotland U21 International

The 1st XI Women’s Hockey team have had a great start to the season with our new arrivals or “freshies” playing a key part.

With five wins, 18 goals and one draw we are currently sitting top of the Prem B, and hope to continue this after the festive season.

We have been having fun off the pitch too, whether it’s in Ocean or having movie nights, curry nights and of course…lots of karaoke!

Nicole Burns – 2ndXI captain

The 2nd XI have had their best season to date. Hoping to continue our unbeaten run this week, our team includes a range of freshers to masters students from a variety of backgrounds – all coming together as a little family.

We’re partial to a dip in the ocean each week, while looking forward to our bigger team socials at Boatball, our Christmas dinner and a “Come dine with me” team special!
