Week 3 of BUCS saw NTU teams compete in over 50 fixtures on Wednesday alone. With more to come this weekend, NTU students and athletes will be ready and fighting to maintain their excellent start to the BUCS season.
This week’s Match of the Week was another strong performance from our Men’s Football 1st team, beating Northumbria University 1st 1-0 to maintain their perfect start and top spot in the Premier Division North.
Not to be outdone, Men’s Rugby 1st overcame a 15-0 half time deficit to win with the last play of the match 17-15 in a pulsating game against local rivals, University of Nottingham 1st – making it 3 out of 3 wins for NTU.
Women’s Volleyball 1st team were part of another nail-biting match, overcoming University of Warwick 1st team 3-2 with a thrilling finish.
Slightly less nervy were the Women’s badminton 1st team, overcoming De Montfort University 1st team 8-0 in a whitewash.
Finally, two of the longest away trips of the day proved very profitable. Men’s Hockey 1st maintained their winning start to the season in the National League with a hard-fought 3-1 win over Cardiff Met University in what was described as ‘torrential conditions’.
Finally, our Men’s Basketball 2nd team had a long trip to Norwich to play the University of East Anglia, but they were rewarded with a magnificent 106-56 victory to make the journey home that little bit quicker.
Another great week for sport at NTU! Good luck to all our students and athletes competing this weekend.
