Last week NTU swim returned to Ponds Forge, returning to the pool after a considerable time away. Our strong team did themselves and NTU proud, reaching the top 10 by the end of the weekend, making it the most successful swimming event for NTU with athletes reaching 8 finals across the event. It was brilliant to see so many pink caps representing NTU and delivering an excellent weekend for Trent swimming.
Anya Preece placed bronze in the 1500 Freestyle, this was Anya’s BUCS debut and did not disappoint;
“My first ever BUCS was an amazing experience, and to come away with a bronze was even better. I felt very strong as I began to pull away from the other competitors”.
Anya excelled placing bronze and scoring crucial BUCS points for Trent whilst additionally getting a 34 second PB.
Connor Stuart achieved silver in breaststroke and a bronze in the 100 backstroke for para-swimming. Connor was thrilled to be back in the water competing for NTU, Connor commented:
“Given all the uncertainty with training since covid I am really happy with my times and where I placed. BUCS was a great experience and delivered a different feel from all of the other previous competitions.”
Connor is looking forward to competing in further BUCS fixtures in the near future.

Additionally, Charlie Brown placed Silver in the 200 Backstroke delivering an excellent performance for NTU swim.
Congratulations to all our student athletes from NTU Swim, we look forward to seeing what they have in store for the rest of the year.
