This week saw the welcome return of BUCS activity for our teams at NTU. This return was a slightly reduced fixture schedule, but nonetheless, there were some fantastic performances and results.
The first result of the day was from our Women’s 1st Lacrosse team who travelled up to Durham University for a league deciding clash against their 2nds, who are their closest rivals. A tense game followed, with the girls winning 11-8, allowing them to remain unbeaten and stay on course for a league triumph in Premier North 2 in their first season at this level.
Also on the road, our Netball 1st team faced a trip to the University of Worcester to take on their 1st team. A win would keep the girls unbeaten and all but sure of securing the top spot in the Midlands Tier 1 division and into the playoffs for the Premier North with 3 games to spare. A 48-27 victory followed allowing the girls to have some breathing space at the top of the division.
Continuing the unbeaten theme, the Women’s Basketball 2nd team faced off against the University of Lincolns 1st team. A victory would mean that they would be unbeaten so far at the halfway point through the league season and would give them a 3-point cushion at the top of the table with a game in hand. The Christmas break didn’t slow the team’s momentum and a fantastic 51-39 victory means they remain top of the Midlands 3 table.
Our Women’s Squash 1st team had a short trip down the road to Loughborough University, to compete in their final fixture of the league stage against their 2nd team. A win would secure their spot in the division for another season which would be a great achievement in a very strong division. The result was a 3-1 win to NTU allowing them to deliver a strong finish to the league campaign in Midlands 1.
Finally, our Match of the Day, with some extended highlights on our Instagram stories, Women’s Badminton 1st team, took on the University of East Anglia 1st team at home on Clifton Campus. It was a very tight match, ending 4 games each and a draw.
