Our first round up focuses on 2 of our most consistent and successful teams in recent NTU history, Men’s and Women’s 1st table tennis. Our men’s team are current R-up in National championship, while the Womens lost out in the last 4 last year. The Men’s Team faced Loughborough University in the Premier North league match at Clifton, looking to bounce back from a defeat last week to rivals and national champions University of Nottingham. The boys didn’t look phased by last week’s result and stormed to a 15-2 victory. Our Women’s 1st team faced the University of Newcastle also at home, looking to go one better than last year and take a top 2 finish in the league to secure a top 4 seeding for the Championship knockouts. The team is made up of 2 new players this year and the quality is clear to see, winning this fixture 5-0 to make a great start to their league campaign.

Our Women’s Volleyball 1st team have had a tough campaign so far in midlands tier 1 and were looking for their 1st win of the season. Visitors were their closest rival University of East Anglia 1st team, who made the long trip to Clifton campus. It proved to be a hugely competitive game that wen tot a deciding 5th set, and the girls in pink came through to get the win and hopefully kick start their season.

Womens Netball 1st team were looking to build on the momentum of last weeks fantastic win against locals University of Nottingham last week facing at home, the bottom side, University of Manchester 1st team. The girls were high on confidence and made a blistering start to the game and never relinquished their lead, running out 61-30 winners and putting a convincing stamp on their premier tier credentials.

Our Women’s Football 1st team were also on home soil, taking on Loughborough University 2nd team. They were looking to maintain their push for the league title in Midlands tier 1 and the coveted promotion to the premier tier. The league leaders put in a dominating display, dispatching the opposition 4-1 and maintaining their unbeaten record.

Our final result of the week focuses on our Men’s Rugby League 2nd team who were yet to win a game this season and were touch and go this year whether the team would have the number. However, the players, coaches and committee members have been working tirelessly week on week to ensure the team is going from strength to strength. They faced a trip away to Lincoln University 1st team having come close in the last few weeks to their 1st win. The hard work finally paid off and our team won 26-12, providing a great platform to build on for the rest of the season.
