Week 5 of BUCS, saw our Men’s and Women’s Basketball 1st teams competing in away fixtures. Both faced long trips to Anglia Ruskin University, where they sought to maintain their 100% winning start to the season. The Women’s team were first up and came away with a strong 95-73 victory. Not to be outdone the Men’s team then followed up, once again passing 100 points, winning 117-68, meaning both teams retained their unbeaten starts to the season.
In the theme of long away trips, Men’s Hockey 1st ventured to the South-West travelling to the University of Bath in a National League fixture. They won 2-0, another fantastic result, which sees them sit at the top of the league.
In what was possibly the most dramatic of matches in yesterday’s fixtures, our Men’s football 2nd team travelled to Loughborough University, where they faced their 4th team. Despite NTU being 3-1 down at one point in the 2nd half, NTU came back to win 4-3, with a last-minute winner to scenes of much jubilation amongst players and staff.
Netball 1st team didn’t have quite as far to travel or as a dramatic finish. University of Warwick 1st team were their opponents, and the team kept their winning streak running resulting in a 94-23 win.
Last but not least, our Golf 1st team made it 2 wins out of 2, in what has been an excellent start on one of our few mixed gender sports. They won 3.5-2.5 away at Oxford Brookes University, keeping their winning start to the season.
Our Match of the Week was with our Women’s 1s badminton, who took on Cambridge as part of the Women’s Midland’s Tier 2 league. You can check out this match and watch our weekly Wednesday takeovers here.
